In the spirit of "tap water" coming from "faucets"

John Wells just pointed out in an aside in an article on his "vortaro-blogo" that

Americans mail letters (using the US Post Office), but we Brits post them (using the Royal Mail).

Somewhat related.

One of the things with learning English in an non-English environment with influences from both is that I mix the Englishes when they have seperate words like that; one day I say post a letter, the next day I say mail a letter (and the third I will to a direct transfer from Norwegian and send the letter)

And in the US we drive on a parkway but park on a driveway!
